This plan would not impact the current class of aircraft carriers, since ships are scheduled to operate for 50 years, and the size of the fleet would not immediately be shrunk. Eventually, the size would decrease when some of the ships stop being used, but if they are deemed necessary because of national security interests, the building process can be resumed.
